BRIEF BIOGRAPHY: In the darkest reaches of the cosmos, in the shadowy aftermath of “The Quickening,” a cataclysmic event that devoured a galaxy and left it abandoned, quarantined, and forever renamed “The Charnel Rift,” Hitomyris is the lone survivor of an alien race, the Kaibyo.

Born while her family was on the run from the Scourers, an intergalactic militia sworn to annihilate her kind, Hitomyris’s life was marred by tragedy from the very beginning. Her father, a brave protector, fell victim to those who hunted them, and her mother was cruelly torn away, sold into a life of enslavement, never to be seen again.

For decades, Hitomyris existed in a perpetual state of fear, fleeing from planet to planet, sometimes narrowly escaping the Scourers by mere hours. Her relentless pursuit was to find any other survivors of the Kaibyo, to find kinship and solace in the midst of a galaxy that had turned its back on her kind.

It was during her endless journey, in the darkest of times, that fate brought her into contact with Neejud Zoprot, an intergalactic gangster with a proposition that could offer her sanctuary. In exchange for her unique abilities to reanimate the dead, Neejud promised Hitomyris a haven on the lawless mining planet of Tactria and his assistance in finding Kaibyo survivors.

With no other option, Hitomyris reluctantly accepted the offer, becoming “The White Witch of Tactria,” a mystical figure with the power to raise the deceased in order to settle inheritance disputes…for a fee paid to Neejud. While she often felt isolated and alone, she couldn’t turn her back on those who sought her aid on the perilous planet: she took up sewing and knitting to help clothe the poor and will often go without food herself in order to give her meals to orphaned children hiding in the trash strewn alleys of Driftside City, one of the largest enclaves on Tactria.

Hitomyris’s existence on the mining planet, is a delicate balance of survival and secrecy. She yearns for acceptance, for a place where she can be herself without the constant threat of the Scourers. Yet, the shadows of her past continue to loom, and the Scourers, still operating with ruthless determination, cast doubt on the realization of her dream.

Hitomyris’s is a survivor who, despite the odds, continues to hope for a future where her kind is accepted, and she can finally live in peace. She is a testament to the resilience of the heart in a galaxy where even hope can seem like a distant star in the night sky.
